Dillian Whyte Makes An Appeal To WBC, As The Gypsy King (Tyson Fury) Won’t Put His WBC Title On The Line Nor Agree On A Fight

Tyson Fury will not fight Dillian Whyte next, nor put his WBC belt on the line, Frank Warren has claimed after the Gypsy King’s promoter revealed he has compiled a four-man shortlist to take on the heavyweight star next year. The WBC have ordered Fury to take on mandatory challenger Whyte next, but an arbitration between the Brixton heavyweight and the organisation has complicated matters.

Eddie Hearn – Whyte’s promoter – is demanding a 55-45 split in Fury’s favour, while the Gypsy King’s camp are bargaining for a larger 80-20 split towards the champion. Frank Warren says Tyson Fury will not fight Dillian Whyte next nor fight for his WBC title.

Warren does not expect the issue to be resolved in the near future and as such is scouting other options for Fury. A fight in March is being touted, and the champion is not expected to fight with his WBC belt at stake, the veteran promoter has said.

I’m pretty confident one of those shows [in March] will feature [Fury],’ Warren told iFL TV. ‘He won’t be defending his WBC title, there is a problem there, not of his making or our making.

‘The WBC and Dillian Whyte are in arbitration and that hearing is not set to be heard until March. We can’t negotiate.It’s all very well Eddie Hearn saying this nonsense about negotiating, how can you negotiate when the WBC hasn’t said what the splits are?

‘In his mind, he thinks he’s getting 45 percent, in our mind, it’s 20 percent based on the previous purses that were lodged under WBC regulations. They won’t determine what the percentages are until after the arbitration.

‘That doesn’t mean the fight will take place in April. We have to negotiate, book a venue, and that could go until June.

‘So, Tyson will fight, but not for the WBC title. He can’t be inactive because of the problems caused by this arbitration between the WBC and Whyte.’
Warren added that a four-man shortlist of possible opponents has been compiled for Fury’s next ring appearance, amid talk that he wishes for a UK homecoming at some point next year.

We have got to sort out an opponent first before we can move further forward,’ he continued.

‘I’m not going to go into that because we have got to get things done first. But we are working quite hard on it and there are about four in the frame, and we will make a decision on that, subject to their availability too.’

Fury is aiming to become the undisputed, unified heavyweight champion next year, but would need to beat WBA, WBA, IBF and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk in order to complete that feat.
