NEWSPrior to her WWE return, Lita was in talks to have a major run with AEW
Fightful is reporting that prior to her return tonight on WWE SmackDown, Lita was in talks for a major run in AEW. Obviously, a deal was not worked out and it appears that she is back in WWE for more than just the Royal Rumble.
Several weeks ago, Lita said on her Twitch channel that she was open to signing with AEW so that must be around the time when talks started. This is similar to what happened with Edge. He was in talks with AEW but was then offered a deal to return to WWE.
Tonight on SmackDown, Lita said that she has one more run left in her and she plans on winning the Women’s Royal Rumble so she can main event WrestleMania. Her segment was interrupted by SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Lita walked out of the ring after hitting Flair with the Twist of Fate.
PWInsider reported earlier tonight that Lita’s booking was a last minute deal and the decision was made on Thursday to include her on the show.
